Mr and Mrs Marsh

Barnabas Marsh, unofficial leader of Innsmouth, and his beloved human wife go for a walk on the beach on a rare sunny day.

When I was rereading 'The Shadow over Innsmouth', I noticed something odd. While describing the invasion of the Deep Ones, Zadok Alen mentioned that Barnabas Marsh courted a human woman from a nearby town and almost got lynched by the locals. What striked me as odd was this - everyone knew there was something fishy (pun intended) about Marsh and Innsmouth, and yet she married him and had children with him. Call me a hopeless romantic, but I somehow can't imagine their marriage as anything but a happy, loving relationship.
